About The Position

The Special Events Department at the Columbus Museum of Art is seeking highly qualified individuals with a strong background in hospitality and service. We are looking for team members who bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing the highest level of service on every occasion. The Special Event Servers and Bartenders are responsible for delivering high-quality food and beverage service during corporate, social, and internal events at the Columbus Museum of Art. This position ensures exceptional customer service aligned with CMA’s hospitality standards. It is a contingent, as-needed basis, offering flexible scheduling based on event needs and individual availability.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in food and beverage service, preferably in banquet, catering, or special event settings
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and safely maneuver equipment
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to take direction and adapt to changing event needs

Responsibilities

  • Set up and tear down event spaces and service areas using appropriate equipment to support a variety of food and beverage service scenarios throughout the museum.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and in compliance with CMA service standards and state liquor control guidelines.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to clients and guests before, during, and after events, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Safely lift and carry trays of food, navigate tight or crowded spaces with efficiency, and push/pull carts containing tables, chairs, and other event equipment as needed.
  • Follow Serve Safe and other food safety protocols in accordance with city, county, and state regulations to ensure a safe and hygienic service environment.
  • Other duties as delegated
