About The Position
Family of Kidz is hiring Special Educators for Resource Room positions on the South Shore of Nassau County, NY. This role offers flexibility in scheduling, with opportunities for Fee for Service or Full-time employment. The position involves providing specialized instruction to students with special needs, tailoring lesson plans, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support student success. The organization has been dedicated to helping children with special needs from birth to adulthood since 1998, focusing on fostering independence and enhancing quality of life.
Requirements
- NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 (NYS SWD All Grades or Permanent Preferred)
- Minimum of (1) year experience working in a setting focusing on supporting children and their families preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to collaborate with various professionals
- Self-starter and independent problem solver
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Sterling values, high integrity, empathetic and considerate
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and dynamic environment
- Flexible thinker with the ability to pivot when necessary
- Must be a team-player

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
- Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
- Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
- Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
- Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs, accommodations, and classroom strategies.
- Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
- Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
- Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
- Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
