About The Position

Family of Kidz is hiring and has immediate openings for a Special Educator Resource Room. This role offers the flexibility to create your own schedule and is ideal for individuals passionate about helping children. The position is located in various cases around South Shore, Nassau County, NY. It can be Part-Time, Fee for Service, or have Full-time Potential, with hours typically available during school days, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar. Specific session lengths are determined by IEP mandates. The compensation is $60/hour, with rates varying based on service, experience, and certifications. The employment arrangement (full-time or FFS) depends on the caseload and will be discussed during the interview, subject to change.

Requirements

  • NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 ( NYS SWD All Grades or Permanent Preferred)
  • Minimum of (1) year experience working in a setting focusing on supporting children and their families preferred
  • Passionate about working with children and their families
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate with various professionals
  • Self-starter and independent problem solver
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Sterling values, high integrity, empathetic and considerate

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
  • Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
  • Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs, accommodations, and classroom strategies.
  • Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
  • Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
