About The Position

This role supports the evaluation of referred children and the development of Educational Plans for students with special needs. The Special Education Team Leader acts as a liaison between teachers and principals for the writing, implementation, and evaluation of these plans. Additionally, this position assists special education staff in developing learning systems within Holyoke Public Schools and helps both regular and special needs teachers formulate instructional objectives for effective learning. The role also involves assisting in providing in-service training for both regular and special education staff. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Massachusetts Certification in Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8 and 5-12 with SEI Endorsement
  • Belief that all children can succeed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong organization and/or project management skills
  • Ability to use computer-based recruitment tools
  • Knowledge of evaluative measures of student behavior and writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Second licensure in English as a second Language preferred.

Responsibilities
