Special Education Teacher
About The Position
Liberty POST is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for per diem work with children from birth to age 5 through Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education programs. Immediate positions are available throughout Long Island. The role involves evaluating and monitoring children’s progress, setting goals, adjusting treatment plans, and documenting evaluations, treatment, and progress in an electronic medical record. Teachers must maintain confidential records and follow state laws and regulations for Early Intervention and CPSE/CSE special education. Liberty POST has provided individualized services since 1994 and employs more than 500 professionals across New York State and Indiana. Its collaborative teams provide evaluation, direct therapy, and family education through child-directed play, with attention to children’s natural learning environments, family strengths and needs, and the diverse population served.
Requirements
- Current New York State licensure and/or certification in Special Education.
- New York State teaching certification for students with disabilities in B–2nd grade, or permanent certification in Special Education.
- Knowledge of MS Word and comfort working with computers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Early childhood experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Master’s degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, monitor, and track children’s progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Test and evaluate children’s abilities to determine realistic goals.
- Record initial evaluations, treatment, and progress in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Write detailed analyses and reports.
- Organize and maintain the confidentiality of children’s records and other documentation.
- Follow state laws and regulations pertaining to Early Intervention and CPSE/CSE special education.
