Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Educator Certification in Special Education (EC-12) through the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
  • Knowledge of special education laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the ARD committee to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide differentiated instruction in various settings, including inclusion classrooms and resource rooms, to meet students’ academic, social, and behavioral needs.
  • Collect and analyze data to track student progress, ensuring that instructional strategies and interventions are effective in meeting IEP goals.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support students’ success. Actively participate in ARD meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and classroom management strategies that foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Address students’ academic, social, and emotional needs through individualized support, accommodations, and modifications.
