Lyons Township High School District 204 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the second semester of the 2026-2027 school year. This role is responsible for the instruction, supervision, and safety of students, as well as curriculum development and implementation, and professional growth. The teacher will adhere to District policies, professional expectations, and the Negotiated Agreement. They will be expected to develop a working knowledge of the full school program, model respectful classroom behavior, and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. Communication with parents and accessibility to students are key. The position also involves participating in professional development, initiating positive relationships with staff and the community, and contributing to the school community beyond the classroom. Routine managerial tasks such as attendance and grading must be performed accurately. The teacher should demonstrate scholarship in their content area, technological competency, and enthusiasm for teaching. Serving on committees and applying school rules fairly are also expected. The role includes accepting constructive criticism, utilizing colleague expertise, respecting diverse backgrounds, and applying professional competencies. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by administrative staff. The position may include supervision of Instructional Aides/Paraprofessionals.
