About The Position

Liberty Elementary is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide small group instruction and/or collaboration and/or co-teaching with regular education teachers. This role involves modifying and accommodating students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), managing a student IEP caseload, and designing and implementing individualized instruction. The teacher will utilize research-based intervention techniques, work effectively with a team of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents, and central office staff to provide quality educational services for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree required
  • Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Mild/Moderate or Severe/Profound Special Education and Elementary Education

Responsibilities

  • Teach specially designed curriculum to students in the classroom, using standards adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sapulpa's Board of Education and any other appropriate learning activities as supported by the district/site administration.
  • Actively participate in integrating technology resources into the curriculum for student learning.
  • Develop and implement IEPs by maintaining a compliance rating of 100% consistent with district requirements.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction in accordance with student goals and objectives as outlined in the IEP.
  • Routinely communicate with regular education teachers regarding specific IEP needs of students within regular classroom environments.
  • Work effectively with a team of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents, and district administrators to provide quality educational services for each student.
  • Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
  • Establish standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Complete documentation and charting required to measure progress on student IEPs and prepare progress reports.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth and keep appropriate records.
  • Communicate with parents through a variety of ways to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
  • Interact with students, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Participate and complete yearly de-escalation training to promote positive interactions with students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the site administrator(s).
