About The Position

The Ottoson Middle School is looking for an enthusiastic educator to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an educator certified in Moderate or Severe Special Needs. Salary is based on education and experience and pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between the School Committee and Arlington Education Association. Job Goal: Responsible for planning instruction and curriculum modifications for included special needs students that allow students to meet high standards and success in typical settings.

Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction to students, both within the regular education classroom and outside the regular education classroom. This includes planning and teaching along with the regular classroom teacher in an inclusive regular education setting.
Plan and modify regular curriculum.
Consult with regular education staff.
Monitor student progress in regular education program.
Develop IEP, determine goals and objectives.
Prepare progress reports.
Organize and chair team meetings and other meetings.
Administer testing for evaluations and end of term/end of year reporting.
Maintain contact with parents.
Attend building learning team meetings.
Direct the work of teaching assistants.
Perform other tasks as assigned by Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator.
