About The Position

The Licensed Special Education Teacher is dedicated to empowering students with disabilities by delivering high-quality, individualized instruction, writing comprehensive IEPs, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. This role ensures the implementation of IEPs and collaborates closely with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators. The teacher is committed to fostering student growth, self-advocacy, and a positive, supportive learning atmosphere, all while staying current with best practices and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Active Colorado License: Must hold a valid and active Colorado teaching license in Special Education.
  • IEP Writing Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in writing and managing Individualized Educational Plans.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • High Expectations: Demonstrate a resolute belief in high expectations for all students.
  • Emotional Regulation: Ability to model calmness and emotional regulation, even in times of stress.
  • Strong Routines: Capable of upholding strong routines, structure, and individual support plans with absolute fidelity.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit strong communication skills, particularly across cultural differences.
  • Belief in Growth: Hold an unwavering belief in all children’s ability to grow and learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Second language skills
  • Two years experience working in a public school in Colorado

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Individualized Instruction: Provide tailored educational experiences that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Write and Implement IEPs: Develop, monitor, and adjust Individualized Educational Plans to ensure each student’s goals are met.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators to support student success.
  • Foster Self-Advocacy: Encourage and teach students self-advocacy and self-regulation strategies.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and document student progress to ensure IEP goals are being met.
  • Stay Current: Keep up to date with best practices, state regulations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Be a Positive Team Member: Contribute to a collaborative, supportive team environment, promoting a culture of respect and continuous improvement.
