To provide direct and consultative instructional and behavioral support to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Program. This role involves instructing students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques, teaching socially acceptable behavior, and modifying the general education curriculum for students with disabilities. The teacher will also plan and conduct activities, select and interpret diagnostic tools, establish and enforce behavior rules, meet with parents, and confer with other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs). Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate student records, preparing reports, establishing clear lesson objectives, developing communication plans for inclusive settings, providing crisis intervention, assisting with data collection for interventions, and serving as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Continued professional development is essential to stay current in the field of education for students with disabilities.
