To provide direct and consultative instructional and behavioral support to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Program. This role involves employing special educational strategies and techniques to improve student development, instructing students in academic subjects using various methods, and teaching socially acceptable behavior through positive behavioral support systems. The teacher will modify the general education curriculum, plan and conduct activities, select and interpret diagnostic tools, and establish and enforce classroom rules. Collaboration with parents, administrators, and other professionals is key to developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position requires maintaining accurate student records, setting clear learning objectives, developing communication plans for inclusive settings, providing crisis intervention, and assisting in data collection for interventions. The Special Education Teacher will also serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team and engage in continued professional development to stay current in the field of special education.
