About The Position

Eastpointe Community Schools is seeking passionate and proactive Special Education Teachers (K-12) for Resource Room and Self-Contained positions for the 2026-27 school year. The district is focused on transforming lives through rapid turnaround, increasing educational expectations, developing a culture of support, and nurturing all students to address academic, behavioral, and interpersonal needs. This role involves working collaboratively with principals and leaders, mastering grade-level content, assessment, and technology, and participating in continuous professional learning. The ideal candidate is passionate about the PLC process, data-driven instruction, and building strong relationships with families, students, and the community, while also being a positive and productive member of the special education team.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
Michigan Teacher Certification - highly qualified in subject area for level
Endorsement: K-12 in LD, CI, EI or ASD
Recommendations from coworkers or instructors knowledgeable about skills providing instruction to students with disabilities
Skilled with documenting services provided to students
Ability to balance a caseload of up to 15 students and meet deadlines for paperwork requirements

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching elementary/secondary aged students with disabilities
Experience working with PowerSchool and PowerSchool Special Education

Responsibilities

Engage students, parents, and the community.
Drive instruction using student achievement data.
Develop a school culture of pride and high achievement for caseload students.
