About The Position
This Special Education position coordinates the delivery of special education services, resources, schedules and reports for special education eligible students, as well as teaches ABE/GED students reading, math and writing skills. Work location is inside the secure perimeter of a multi-level institution and includes daily and re-occurring interaction with prisoners of all custody levels. The position is assigned to the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor and Education Manager.
Requirements
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in special education or a field of K-12 education.
- Possession of current Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement in autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for students with disabilities, physical or other health impairment, speech and language impairment, and/or visual impairment.
- Must attach a copy of an official transcript(s) confirming education.
- Must attach a copy of current Michigan teaching certificate with a special education endorsement.
- Must provide at least three professional references and their contact information to include phone number and email address.
- Current MDOC employees must include their current supervisor as one of three professional references.
