Teacher Assistant - Anticipated Special Education Teacher Assistant, Adapted, JWES
About The Position
This is a 10-month position for a Special Education Teacher Assistant in an Adapted program at JWES. Candidates hired for Secondary Adapted programs must be on the RCPS approved driving list. The role requires developing and maintaining an empathetic attitude toward disabled students, working cooperatively with others, and a willingness to learn specialized instructional and management techniques for disabled students. The position also requires seeking and maintaining CPR/AED/First Aid certification and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development Certificate (GED).
- Must be on the RCPS approved driving list (for Secondary Adapted programs).
Nice To Haves
- Two years of college.
- 12 undergraduate credits in math/English.
- Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students.
- Work cooperatively with others in a positive manner.
- Learn specialized instructional/management techniques with disabled students, as needed.
- Seek and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator(AED)/First Aid certification.
- Communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
