About The Position

Astor Services is hiring Preschool Teacher Assistants for Head Start, a federally funded preschool program serving 3- and 4-year-old children and their families through early learning, health, and family well-being services. The Teacher Assistant supports the delivery of educational services in a classroom setting, including instruction, child supervision, ongoing assessments, and potentially home visits. This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Create a well-organized learning environment that feels welcoming, trusting, and safe.
• Understand and incorporate the principles of play-based learning.
• Use effective classroom management and supervise all children.
• Provide varied classroom experiences that support each child’s emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and self-help skill development.
• Work as a team member.
• Provide assigned coverage to support smooth program operations.
• Follow safety and health practices in daily duties to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support instruction throughout the day and participate in ongoing assessments.
• Participate in home visits when required.
