About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher – Physical or Other Health Impairments to provide specialized instruction and support to students with physical or other health impairments. The teacher will develop and deliver individualized instruction designed to support students' academic, developmental, behavioral, social, communication, and functional needs. This is a long-term contract position with the potential to continue year after year, providing stability and continued work within a school environment.

Requirements

  • Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate certification for Physical or Other Health Impaired (SC)
  • T2EA certification accepted
  • Knowledge of special education instructional strategies
  • Understanding of IEPs and individualized instruction
  • Ability to modify curriculum and instructional materials based on student needs
  • Ability to support academic, behavioral, social, communication, developmental, and functional development
  • Classroom management and organizational skills
  • Communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, therapists, and administrators
  • Patient, flexible, and student-focused approach
  • Ability to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with physical or other health impairments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students identified with Physical or Other Health Impairments (SC)
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies based on student needs
  • Follow and implement student IEPs and individualized educational goals
  • Adapt curriculum, assignments, and instructional materials to support individual learning needs
  • Monitor and document student academic, developmental, behavioral, and functional progress
  • Support students in developing academic, communication, social, and independent living skills
  • Create a structured, safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implement appropriate instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Provide individualized support based on students' abilities and physical or health-related needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and other support personnel
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational needs
  • Maintain accurate student records and required special education documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other student support meetings as required
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and growth
  • Follow school policies, procedures, and applicable special education requirements
