About The Position

PrepNet Virtual Academy, based in Michigan, opened in 2020 and serves students K-12 online. This full-time position involves supporting students with their individual education plans (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plans, working 1:1 or in small groups. The role is committed to educating the whole student academically, morally, and socially, implementing a result-driven curriculum designed to meet unique student needs. The paraprofessional will also attend professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings, and assist with compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
  • Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
  • Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
  • Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
  • Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
  • Assist with the required compliance documentation.
