About The Position
Paramount Charter Academy, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to join their team. This full-time position involves supporting students with their individual education plans (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plans. The role focuses on providing instructional and behavioral assistance, committing to the whole student's development (academically, morally, and socially), and implementing specialized curriculum. The paraprofessional will work with the special education team, attend professional development and IEP meetings, and assist with compliance documentation. Requirements
- Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
- Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
- Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
- Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
- Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
- Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
- Assist with the required compliance documentation.
