About The Position
Berkley Public Schools is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals. There is one position at BMS and two positions at BCS. The goal of this position is to assist the teacher in providing learning experiences that will increase the opportunities for learning and improve basic skill levels for students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Associates degree (or higher) OR Completion of at least two years or 48 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education OR Successful completion of formal assessment measuring knowledge of and ability to assist classroom teachers in reading, writing and mathematics.
- Completion of Parapro. &/or other requirements to be deemed highly qualified.
Responsibilities
- Work with individual/small groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Work with large groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Implement instructional activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Assist teacher with motivating students.
- Demonstrate attentiveness to the needs of individual students.
- Provide feedback to teachers on student progress.
- Assist with checking student work.
- Assist with classroom management.
- Assist classroom teacher with planning of instructional activities.
- Assist with supervision of students as assigned.
- Assist with clerical assignments and duties.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative in his/her role.
- Treat confidential matters appropriately.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
