About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Paraeducator for the 2026-27 school year, serving Centerville School District. The role involves supporting students with disabilities under the guidance of a Special Education Teacher, assisting with lesson preparation, instruction, classroom management, student observation, assessment, and communication with parents and staff. The position requires regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for students and contribute to a positive learning environment. The role is part-time, working between 12.5 and 16.75 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet one of the following educational requirements: Associate's Degree (official transcripts required prior to start date if offered a position) OR 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (official transcripts required prior to start date if offered a position) ; OR Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f).

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings.
  • Assisting the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group instruction.
  • Assisting with classroom management.
  • Assisting with student observation and assessment.
  • Communicating with parents and staff as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
  • Supervising students.
  • Collecting data and reporting student progress.
  • Maintaining accurate data collection records.
  • Providing positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
  • Attending to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs.
  • Participating in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops, and seminars.
  • Participating as a member of the education team.
  • May attend parent conferences.
  • Maintaining regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Full salary range for this position is $21.27 - $26.31 per hour.
