About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings, working directly with the Special Education Teacher. The role involves assisting with lesson plan preparation, providing one-on-one and small group instruction, classroom management, student observation and assessment, and communication with parents and staff, all in accordance with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP). The position is for the Lake Quinault School District and is 32.5 hours per week during the school year. Regular attendance is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must meet one of the following educational requirements: Associate's Degree (official transcripts required prior to start date if offered position) OR 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (official transcripts required prior to start date if offered position) ; OR Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f).

Responsibilities

Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings.
Supervise students.
Collect data and report student progress.
Maintain accurate data collection records.
Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students & assisting with personal hygiene needs.
Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.
Participate as a member of the education team.
May attend parent conferences.
Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Other duties as assigned.
