Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Assignment/Location: We are recruiting for a Special Education Paraeducator to serve Dayton Elementary. This position is 32.5 hours per week, school year schedule. Regular attendance required: This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet one of the following educational requirements: Associate's Degree (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date) OR 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date) ; OR Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Paraeducator is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings.
  • The Special Education Paraeducator, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP) assists the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation; one-on-one and small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment; and communication with parents and staff.
  • Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings.
  • Supervise students.
  • Collect data and report student progress.
  • Maintain accurate data collection records.
  • Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
  • Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
  • Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students & assisting with personal hygiene needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.
  • Participate as a member of the education team.
  • May attend parent conferences.
  • Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
