About The Position

Under the direction of professional staff, this role involves working with students individually or in group settings at Maple Grove Elementary School. Key responsibilities include assisting with student supervision in various areas, implementing behavior management strategies, and potentially riding the bus with students or working one-on-one to complete tasks. Ensuring student safety is paramount. The role also involves assisting students with necessary health assistance under nurse guidance, preparing educational materials, and aiding students during mealtimes and in personal hygiene areas. The position may also involve helping students get to and from buses or cars, with assignments varying based on building and district needs.

Requirements

Two year post secondary education or Paraeducator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test required.
Willingness to assume responsibility.
Ability to work well with others.
Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills, and dress.

Responsibilities

Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
Assist with supervision of students in classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.
Implement behavior management strategies.
May include riding the bus with students.
May include working one to one with student to complete assigned tasks.
Ensure student safety.
Assist students with necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.
Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
Assist students at mealtime.
Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
Help get students to and from bus or car.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Assignments may vary based on building and district needs.
