About The Position

Wayzata Public Schools is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with academic, self-care, and social/behavioral needs, starting the 2026-27 school year. This role involves implementing assigned tasks in conjunction with students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs), under the direction of the special education teacher. The paraprofessional will supervise vulnerable students and assist with academic, social, motor, and functional classroom activities. They will observe, document, and communicate student academic and social behavior data to teachers and supervisors. Assistance with mobility, self-help skills (feeding, dressing), toileting, and adaptive equipment is also a key responsibility. The role includes monitoring halls, common areas, and transportation needs, and accompanying students to specialists. Maintaining strict student confidentiality and enforcing school rules are essential. The position is located at the Early Learning School.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Must meet Minnesota Department of Education paraprofessional competency requirements
• Ability to lift, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs
• Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across varied settings

Nice To Haves

• Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training may be required
• Experience with students who present emotional/behavioral challenges preferred
• Computer skills preferred
