About The Position

Brightmont Academy is hiring a part-time Special Education Instructor to provide one-to-one instruction to students in grades 1–12. The instructor uses the provided APEX Learning curriculum and makes accommodations and modifications based on each student’s IEP. The role focuses on supporting the individual student in the classroom; a case manager handles most administrative duties. Brightmont Academy’s one-to-one teaching model emphasizes tailoring instruction to students’ needs and learning styles and guiding them toward mastery through a gradual-release approach. The position does not require lesson planning, parent conferences, or extensive grading. Professional development opportunities are available. The listed pay is $30–$40 per hour, with a flexible schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
LBS1 certification.
Patience and empathy in supporting students with different learning needs.
Genuine passion for teaching and sharing subject matter.
Proficiency with G-Suite and learning management software (LMS).
Ability to provide fingerprints in Arizona or Washington, where applicable, and pass a federal background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.
