About The Position

This position serves as a Special Education Instructional Assistant, focusing on inclusion. The role is a 10-month term of employment, classified as Non-Exempt, with a salary scale of UA3, Grade G03 – G07. The assistant will support teachers in planning and delivering instructional activities, reinforcing lessons with individuals or small groups, and preparing for lessons. Regular attendance and substitute coverage are expected. The position involves working with middle and high school-aged children in an instructional support role.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree, 48 college credits, or passing ParaProfessional scores, required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school/ middle school aged children.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and communications.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the literacy teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in making preparations for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
