About The Position

This is a 10-month, Non-Exempt position for a Special Education Instructional Assistant focused on inclusion. The salary scale is UA3, Grade G03 – G07. The role involves supporting teachers in instructional activities, reinforcing learning for individuals or small groups, and assisting with lesson preparation. Regular attendance and the ability to provide substitute coverage are required. The position is with Charles County Public Schools, which is an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree, 48 college credits, or passing ParaProfessional scores, required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school/ middle school aged children.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and communications.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the literacy teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in making preparations for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
