About The Position

The Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy aims to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences to develop leaders who will positively impact the world. Students will engage in hands-on experiences, real-world investigations, and applied literacy and mathematics learning, including structured STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading/Writing, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) experiences from kindergarten through eighth grade to build 21st-century skills for collaborative problem-solving, technological literacy, and career-readiness.

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk.
Evidence of ability to work well with others.
Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.
Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills.
Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans.
Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

Nice To Haves

Current Arkansas certification in Special Education with Arkansas Qualified Teacher (AQT) status in Math and or English Language Arts preferred.
Certification in K-6, 4-8 and/or 7-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

Supports the vision and mission of Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy by working collaboratively with the administration and ALL staff to create a positive, safe and learner-centered environment.

Serves as a member of the educational management team.
Implements individual educational goals and objectives.
Collects data on students’ progress.
Meets with classes as assigned.
Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
Performs other duties as the principal/supervisor may, from time to time, assign.
