About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Special Education Resource Teacher to support students receiving special education services in Wayne County, Michigan. This role provides targeted individual and small-group instruction to help students strengthen academic skills, access the general education curriculum, and make measurable progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
Requirements
- Valid state teaching credential in Special Education
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience within the past 5 years
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized individual and small-group instruction in a resource room setting.
- Support students in core academic areas including reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Implement specially designed instruction based on individual IEP goals.
- Develop, review, and monitor IEP goals and student progress.
- Adapt instructional materials and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications.
- Collect and analyze student data to measure progress and adjust instruction.
- Serve as case manager for assigned students and maintain required special education documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and progress reviews.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in inclusive classroom settings.
- Work with families, paraeducators, and related service providers to coordinate student support.
- Support students in developing academic independence, organization, and self-advocacy skills.
