About The Position

HPJH EI Paraprofessional is a ten-month position, when students are in attendance, Monday - Friday, not to exceed 37.5 hours per week. The work schedule will be a normal schedule as provided in the H.P.P.A. Master Agreement. This role involves working under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher, implementing individualized behavioral plans for students with EI, and maintaining confidentiality. The paraprofessional will communicate with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public in a professional and friendly manner, and be able to deal with challenging behaviors with poise and professionalism. Flexibility and the ability to take on various assignments within the classroom and building are essential, understanding that each student may work under an individualized plan matching their learning level.

Requirements

  • Successfully passed the WorkKeys Assessment, prior to July 10, 2017, or the current ETS Assessment, which replaced the WorkKeys.
  • Completed 2 years of college, official transcripts must be provided within fifteen days of being awarded this position.
  • Support documentation available to apply for this position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to follow an individualized behavioral plan, under the teacher/psychologist direction.
  • Good attendance record is expected.
  • Certified in the C.P.I. training and the ability to implement all stages of the training, including the restraint portion of Crisis Prevention, OR, willingness to take the training and implement procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of autism and experience and/or training in working with students with EI is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the confidentiality of all students, staff, and administrative correspondence.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a prompt and professional manner.
  • In the absence of immediate administration direction, act in the best interests of the students and the school district.
  • Deal with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public with friendliness, tact, and poise.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as may be directed by the program administrator or other assigned professional staff members.
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Ability to communicate with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Ability and willingness to deal with challenging behaviors under the direction of the teacher with poise and professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work related information.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students with EI, implementing individualized behavioral plans.
  • Ability to be flexible and take on a variety of assignments within the classroom and the building.
  • Ability to understand that each student may work under an individualized plan that matches the student's learning level.
