About The Position

Merlin Day Academy is an intensive therapeutic day program offering education and therapeutic intervention in a supportive classroom environment for children ages 6–14 with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neurodiverse needs. Its relationship-based, family-centered approach helps students build skills for success in their community and beyond. The Special Education Classroom Aide supports children in their cognitive, social, emotional, adaptive, and developmental growth. This is a clinic-based position at 3319 N. Elston Ave. in Chicago, with a predictable Monday–Friday schedule from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and no evenings or weekends.

Requirements

Bachelor's or associate degree, or completion of at least 60 semester hours of college-level coursework.
ISBE Paraprofessional License required.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist with individualized therapy activities and classroom and lesson preparation.
Support clients during group therapy rotations.
Collaborate daily with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers.

Promote children's cognitive, social, emotional, adaptive, and developmental growth.
