About The Position

Merlin Day Academy is an intensive therapeutic day program providing education and therapeutic intervention in a supportive classroom environment for children ages 6–14 with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neurodiverse needs. Its relationship-based, family-centered approach helps students build skills for success in their community and beyond. The Special Education Classroom Aide supports students’ cognitive, social, emotional, adaptive, and developmental growth. The role is clinic-based at 3319 N. Elston Ave. in Chicago, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and no evenings or weekends. The hourly rate is $20–$21.50, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or associate degree, or completion of at least 60 semester hours of college-level coursework.
ISBE Paraprofessional License required.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist with individualized therapy activities and classroom and lesson preparation.
Support clients during group therapy rotations.
Collaborate daily with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers.
