The Special Education Administrator provides educational leadership and serves as a resource to building principals, and supports district special education programs. This role involves assisting principals and staff with problem-solving and planning for students with special needs, their families, and staff members. The administrator will also help in determining instructional methods and materials, developing and implementing policies related to special education, and monitoring the appropriateness and delivery of instructional programs. Additionally, this position supports the Student Services Department in coordinating extended school year programming, state and district assessment procedures for students with disabilities, and accommodations management. The role includes evaluating assigned staff, determining staffing levels, and cooperating with principals, Human Resources, and the Executive Director of Student Services. The administrator will also assist in planning professional development activities and participate in professional growth opportunities to stay informed about federal and state special education regulations. Responsibilities extend to monitoring students in out-of-district special education programs and performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services or Superintendent.
