About The Position

Brillante Academy Public Charter School opened its doors in August 2023. In our fourth year, we will have Pre-K3 through 4th grade and serve over 530 students from the Rio Grande Valley in the Mission area and surrounding communities in its first year. We will continue to grow one grade-level a year until 8th grade. Over the next decade, we plan to expand our network across the state of Texas to serve over 7,000 students. The Charter Management Organization (CMO) for Brillante Academy is Seton Education Partners, a Catholicly inspired organization that also manages the Seton Teaching Fellows missionary program and El Camino, an optional after-school Catholic faith formation program. Seton Education Partners is also the CMO for our sister schools, the Brilla Schools Network, which are having a transformational impact in Bronx, NY. Brillante Academy is a two-way, dual language school that aims to empower our scholars and community through an innovative approach that combines personalized blended learning and co-teaching with a classical approach to education. We focus on teaching the whole child, instilling a deep sense of character through our core values (courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control) while setting a high bar for academic achievement and teaching a content-rich curriculum that has stood the test of time. Requirements

Belief in the Brillante Academy mission, model and values
Bachelor’s degree required
Current Texas Special Education certification
At least three years of special education teaching experience with consistently strong student achievement results
At least two years of experience coaching and managing others, with evidence of developing others to achieve strong results

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred
Experience with early childhood or elementary students preferred
Experience serving on a school leadership team strongly preferred
Experience leading or supporting campus-level MTSS or RTI implementation preferred
Verbal and written fluency in Spanish strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Leads the vision, implementation, and continuous improvement of special education and student support services on campus.
Directs and facilitates supports for diverse learners, ensuring students receiving specialized services are served with excellence, compliance requirements are met with fidelity, and high-quality Tier 2 and Tier 3 instructional practices are consistently implemented across classrooms.
Manages and develops the Student Services Team, including Special Education Teachers, co-teachers, and related service providers (e.g., SLPs, LSSPs, OTs).
Builds the capacity of staff to deliver rigorous and individualized instruction aligned to students goals through coaching, observation, and targeted professional development.
Implements Brillante’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework in close partnership with the Instructional Leadership Team, with a strong emphasis on inclusive practices that enable all students to access rigorous, joyful learning.
Drives the vision for the Student Services Team (short- and long-term) and partners with families, staff, and scholars to execute aligned strategies that accelerate progress toward Brillante’s ambitious goals for student achievement and character development for ALL students.
Coaches, manages, and develops the Student Services Team to deliver strong student outcomes, including progress toward IEP goals for students with diverse learning needs.
Leads the implementation of Brillante’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and uses data to ensure all students receive the appropriate level of support and achieve measurable growth.
Executes student services systems and standard operating procedures with excellence to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.
Develops and manages the day-to-day operational structures, service schedules, and caseloads needed to ensure effective implementation of special education services across the school.
Collaborates with teachers to design and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications aligned to IEPs, 504 plans, and intervention plans to ensure access to grade-level content.
Serves as a thought partner to general education teachers by attending grade-level meetings, analyzing student work and assessment data, and supporting instructional planning and classroom management strategies.
Conducts regular classroom observations, provides real-time coaching, and delivers actionable feedback that strengthens instructional practice and drives student achievement.
Leads ongoing coaching cycles with special education teachers, including goal-setting, data analysis, and progress monitoring.
Reviews, provides feedback on, and ensures the quality and compliance of IEPs, progress reports, and all special education documentation.
Serves as the LEA in ARD meetings, facilitates student-centered conversations, and ensures compliance while honoring families as partners and first educators.
Schedules and coordinates ARD meetings, evaluations, and related service delivery, ensuring timelines are met and communication with families is clear and consistent.
Builds strong relationships with families through proactive communication, sharing student progress, and providing resources to support learning at home.
Analyzes student-level and school-wide data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction, interventions, and supports accordingly.
Supports the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic and behavioral interventions, including modeling small group, push-in, and pull-out instruction as needed.
Manages and aligns curriculum and intervention resources to ensure high-quality instruction for students receiving specialized services.
Executes compliance systems and standard operating procedures, including maintaining trackers, overseeing documentation, and ensuring readiness for audits and reporting.
Oversees annual reviews, reevaluations, and all compliance-related timelines, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting (including PEIMS).
Coordinates with related service providers (e.g., SLPs, LSSPs, OTs) to ensure aligned, high-quality service delivery.
Designs and facilitates professional development for staff to build capacity in supporting diverse learners and implementing inclusive practices.
Collaborates with the Principal and Instructional Leadership Team to implement and refine Brillante’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Contributes to school-wide efforts, including school culture, hiring, events, day to day operations (ex. arrival/dismissal), student recruitment, etc.
Stays knowledgeable on Special Education law and best practices.
Serves as an active member of the leadership team always striving to bring the perspectives of our students, families and staff members to the table.
Contributes to talent efforts (hiring, for example) as our school continues to grow.
Plans time effectively to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while radically focusing on the highest impact priorities.
Learns and continuously develops leadership and instructional practice to deepen impact.
