About The Position

The Special Education Academic Coach I is responsible for ensuring that students with diverse needs have access to our general education curriculum. Special Education Academic Coaches are essential to maintaining our low student-teacher ratio and ensuring all students get the individualized attention requisite for success.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED and o An Associate's degree (or higher) or o 60 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university or o Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading (or readiness), writing (or readiness), and mathematics (or readiness).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the instruction and supervision of students who may have learning differences
  • Assist with tutorial activities working with an individual or group of students who may have learning differences
  • Monitor student progress and provide input for evaluation and parent conference upon request
  • Establish rapport and meaningful relationships with referred students to assist in improving their behavior, educational performance, and social relationships
  • Perform clerical support duties including typing, completing documents, forms, record, correspondence; which may include note taking for students
