About The Position

This is a Special Education Program Assistant position that includes a stipend for working in high-needs special education programs (SEHN). The position is for 185 days per year, with 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The hourly rate is $16.88 plus a $6.00/hr SEHN Stipend. Excellent benefits are offered.

Requirements

Applicants must hold at least ONE of the following licenses through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE): Paraprofessional License (PARA), Short Term Approval for Paraprofessionals (STA), Substitute License (SUB), or Professional Educator License (PEL).
If you do not currently hold a license with ISBE, you must determine eligibility and apply for the appropriate ISBE license.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the direction of a certified special education teacher.
Provide support to students with diverse learning needs in a special education setting.
Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies.
Help prepare instructional materials and maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch and recess.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure student success.
Document student progress and behavior as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by building administration.
