A 26/27- SPECIAL ED ASST (Long Branch)
About The Position
The Special Ed Asst is a 1.0 FTE position located at Long Branch ES. The role provides support to teachers and students in general education and special education classrooms. Assistants work under teacher direction and supervision and collaborate with staff, parents, and children. The position requires understanding the educational needs of general and special education students, including assisting with physical or sensory needs. Applicants must meet NCLB and ESEA requirements at the time of hire. The position is benefit eligible and follows the 26/27 Pay Plan A-Scale, with an hourly rate of $24.60–$46.79. Newly hired individuals with previous related experience may receive salary credit for up to five years.
Requirements
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Experience working in an elementary setting.
- Clear understanding of the educational needs of special education and general education students.
- Must be reliable, dependable, and flexible.
- Must meet NCLB and ESEA requirements at the time of hire.
- High school diploma.
- An associate degree or two years of college study, including at least 60 semester hours, or a score of at least 455 on the Parapro Test.
