Lead Caregiver - PRN/On-Call
About The Position
Elara Caring is hiring a Special Care Aide (SCA) in Bloomington, Indiana, on a PRN/on-call basis with a flexible schedule. The role supports new client admissions and Start of Care visits, provides personal care and household assistance, and helps cover open shifts, call-offs, and urgent staffing needs across the assigned service area. It is intended for experienced caregivers who value variety, flexibility, travel, and opportunities to develop leadership skills and advance within Personal Care Services. Starting pay is $17.50 per hour. Paid mileage and travel time between client visits are offered.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, where required by state regulations.
- At least six months of experience caring for elderly or disabled individuals.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification before first client contact.
- Home Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, Homemaker, CNA, MA, or similar certification where required.
- Basic technology skills and comfort using mobile devices, apps, and electronic documentation systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, dependable, patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing assignments.
- Reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and auto insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and perform physical caregiving duties.
Responsibilities
- Support new client admissions and Start of Care visits.
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
- Prepare meals and assist with activities of daily living.
- Perform light housekeeping and household support.
- Assist with errands and transportation when appropriate.
- Monitor and report changes in clients’ conditions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and visit records.
- Provide coverage for open shifts, call-offs, and urgent staffing needs.
- Travel throughout the assigned service area to support clients.
