About The Position

Elara Caring is hiring a Special Care Aide (SCA) in Jackson, Michigan, on a PRN/on-call basis with a flexible schedule. The role supports clients receiving care at home and helps new clients have a positive experience as they begin services. The aide serves as a connection between clients and the branch team, communicating updates and supporting a seamless care experience. The position offers varied assignments, travel across the service area, and opportunities to build skills and prepare for advancement within Personal Care Services.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, where required by state regulations.
At least six months of experience caring for elderly or disabled individuals.
Home Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, Homemaker, CNA, MA, or similar certification, where required.
Basic technology skills and comfort using mobile devices, apps, and electronic documentation systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused approach.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing assignments.
Reliable personal transportation, current registration, and auto insurance.
Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and perform physical caregiving duties.

Responsibilities

Support new client admissions and Start of Care visits.
Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene assistance.
Prepare meals and assist with activities of daily living.
Perform housekeeping and household support.
Assist with errands and transportation when appropriate.
Monitor and report changes in client condition.
Maintain accurate documentation and visit records.
Provide coverage for open shifts, call-offs, and urgent staffing needs.
Travel throughout the assigned service area to support clients.
