About The Position

This is a term position within the Ohio Employee Ownership Center at Kent Campus. The Special Assistant provides specialized knowledge related to higher education and may oversee day-to-day operations of a program or project. The role involves serving as a liaison, answering questions, providing advice, analyzing information, conducting research, and preparing reports. The position may also involve supervising students or providing functional guidance to support staff. This role is part of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years' relevant experience; or associate's degree and five years of business and/or academic experience; or seven years of business and/or academic experience.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications.
  • Skill in written and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures.
  • Must pass a security check.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, creating financial statements, invoices, and similar.
  • Familiarity with event planning, including scouting locations; coordinating event contracts; choosing menus and other arrangements; and related tasks.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, including managing back-end registration and payment systems, and related tasks.
  • Ability to manage communications, administrative procedures, and relevant paperwork between the Center and Kent State University.
  • Familiarity with CRM software (i.e. Mailchimp), spreadsheets (i.e. Excel), and basic database management.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate or assist in development and implementation of a program or project.
  • May oversee day-to-day operations of a program or project.
  • Serve as liaison for area of specialization; answer questions and provide advice on issues related to area of specialization.
  • Assist in analyzing information, conducting research and developing and preparing reports related to area of specialization.
  • Serve on various department, division, and University committees.
  • May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
