About The Position

Provide direct support to Workout Officers, Special Assets Team Leaders, Regional Special Assets Managers, and Department Manager in regard to credit underwriting, portfolio management, compliance, and monitoring of new and existing customers within the Special Assets portfolio. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work four days a week and can be based at Buffalo, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Metro NYC, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD or Wilmington, DE.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or four years of equivalent related experience.
  • 5 years of commercial lending or commercial credit experience.
  • Requires very strong financial analytical skills.
  • Solid knowledge of personal computers. Thorough knowledge of various software programs: Word, Excel and other departmental software.

Responsibilities

  • Liaison with Workout Officers for the purpose of facilitating underwriting approval memos and Problem Loan Management Reports. Includes tracking the receipt of financial statements, ordering appraisals, compliance with covenants, and borrowing base certificates.
  • Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers in order to gain a thorough understanding of the client and their business in order to effectively assist in effective management of the portfolio.
  • Support portfolio management efforts by completing due diligence on clients including: trade reference verification, credit reports and industry/company research. Preparation of reports for regulators and management. Primary responsibility will also include Problem Loan Management Reports, and Scorecards.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as requested by management.
  • Analyze financial information. Assist RMs in preparing cash-flow and collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, and guarantor statement analysis.
  • Participate in internal strategy discussions.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $103,000.00 - $171,600.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
