About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Liberty Central Sterilization department at Cincinnati Children's. The role involves using manual or mechanical means to clean, disinfect, and sterilize a variety of equipment and instruments for patient care. Responsibilities include assembling instruments, managing equipment documentation, reporting malfunctions, and participating in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives. The goal is to ensure the timely availability of properly processed equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

Using manual or mechanical means, cleans a variety of equipment and instruments at the appropriate level for patient care.
Stores or assembles instruments into trays and case carts for distribution.
Uses defined processes to disinfect and/or sterilize equipment and instruments according to the type of equipment and the manufacturer's instructions for use.
May inspect, assemble and/or test equipment prior to storage or transportation.
Accurately maintains documentation and ensures equipment is appropriately processed to ensure timely availability.
Records and reports malfunctioning equipment and damaged instrumentation, scopes and endoscopes, and other supplies.
Participates in quality assurance activities and process improvement projects.
Contributes to the efficiency of daily workflow.
Performs high level disinfection (HLD) and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures according to designated processing team.
