About The Position

This role is responsible for using manual or mechanical means to clean a variety of equipment and instruments at the appropriate level for patient care. The SPD Tech will also store or assemble instruments into trays and case carts for distribution. Additionally, they will use defined processes to disinfect and/or sterilize equipment and instruments according to the type of equipment and the manufacturer's instructions for use. This may include inspecting, assembling, and/or testing equipment prior to storage or transportation. The position requires accurate documentation and ensuring equipment is appropriately processed for timely availability. The SPD Tech will also record and report malfunctioning equipment and damaged instrumentation, scopes, endoscopes, and other supplies. Participation in quality assurance activities and process improvement projects is expected, as is contributing to the efficiency of daily workflow. The role involves performing high-level disinfection (HLD) and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures according to the designated processing team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No directly related experience required
