About The Position

This role is responsible for using manual or mechanical means to clean a variety of equipment and instruments at the appropriate level for patient care. The SPD Tech will store or assemble instruments into trays and case carts for distribution. They will use defined processes to disinfect and/or sterilize equipment and instruments according to the type of equipment and the manufacturer's instructions for use. This may include inspecting, assembling, and/or testing equipment prior to storage or transportation. The SPD Tech will accurately maintain documentation and ensure equipment is appropriately processed to ensure timely availability. They will record and report malfunctioning equipment and damaged instrumentation, scopes and endoscopes, and other supplies. Additionally, the SPD Tech will participate in quality assurance activities and process improvement projects, contribute to the efficiency of daily workflow, and perform high level disinfection (HLD) and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures according to designated processing team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No directly related experience required

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospital experience
• Sterile Processing coursework
