About The Position

Merritt Academy is looking for an energetic and dynamic Spanish Teacher to join their team. The main responsibility of this role is to teach age-appropriate academic classes in Spanish to Kindergarten through 8th Grade classrooms. The role also involves teaching cultural elements, promoting respect for second languages and speakers, managing the classroom, and utilizing bulletin boards, visual aids, and technology effectively. The teacher must stay updated on current language instruction trends.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree required
• Experience working in education required
• Native or native-level proficiency in Spanish
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Knowledge of developmental milestones and age-appropriate practices
• Effective classroom-management techniques
• Effective leadership and team building skills
• Pass pre-employment screenings

Responsibilities

• Manage the classroom using effective classroom management techniques.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans in accordance with age-appropriate guidelines established by the administration.
• Prepare and teach lessons and values curriculum.
• Maintain accurate and complete student evaluations, including progress reports, portfolios, and anecdotal reports.
• Continuously evaluate children's social and academic development.
• Maintain positive parent communication.
• Keep abreast of current trends in language instruction.
