About The Position

Lawrence Family Development Charter School (LFDCS) is seeking a Spanish Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. LFDCS is dedicated to developing and implementing effective practices that support language acquisition and academic fluency in both English and Spanish for all students. The school's dual-language fluency approach builds upon students' first language (Spanish) while fostering proficiency in English, utilizing best practices to achieve its priority funding goal.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or appropriate content subject area or Emergency License
  • Massachusetts Certification in Foreign Language Instruction at the levels matching position openings
  • Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
  • Support the two-way language goals of the school.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member of the grade-level staff and school community
  • Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years' experience preferred
  • Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach students to read and write in Spanish.
  • Provide the instructional program for students to reflect the goals of a Dual-Language Program.
  • Ensure consistent discipline practices and integration with the classroom instruction.
  • Participate in the monthly RTI (Response to Intervention) meeting for assigned grade levels.
  • Meet weekly with grade-level classroom teachers to support parallel skills in two languages.
  • Assist with standardized test administration or translation as requested by Head of School.
  • Communicate with parents to ensure a cooperative family partnership in accord with the school's mission and to increase student achievement.
  • Participate in and adopt school-based professional learning, innovations and technology advances.
  • Invest in personal and professional development through on-going training in accord with an approved professional development plan.
  • Provide letters of reference for high school admissions process (grade 8 students) as requested.
