About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager or Practice Manager Director, the Spanish Language Liaison assists Spanish-speaking patients with appointments, non-clinical customer service interactions with the lab and pharmacy, and provides general assistance to the Practice Manager or Practice Manager Director. This role is not a medical interpreter; the employee is not qualified to provide medical interpretation and must refer patients or employees to a medical interpreter for that assistance. The Liaison interacts with patients and visitors courteously, appropriately, and respectfully, and performs duties in accordance with New Horizon Family Health Services policies and procedures. New Horizon Family Health Services operates multiple locations throughout Greenville, Greer, Travelers Rest, and Berea. Candidate placement and worksite assignments are determined at the discretion of the Executive Team based on organizational needs and operational priorities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Proficiency in oral and written Spanish and English.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in a medical office.
Working knowledge of an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.

Responsibilities

Facilitate communication in Spanish by providing general assistance to employees and patients.
Refer employees or patients to a medical interpreter for medical interpretation.
Screen voicemails and incoming calls; take messages, transfer calls, accurately record received information, and promptly distribute messages to the appropriate person.
Make patient appointment calls and reminder calls.
Help maintain efficient patient flow by directing patients to the appropriate location.
Assist PSRs with check-in for Spanish-speaking patients.
Schedule appointments and retrieve medical records as needed.
Assist with non-clinical customer service interactions with the lab and pharmacy.
Notify management of suspicious activity observed in or around Center property.
