About The Position

The SP Packer's primary role is to remove products from the conveyor, inspect them according to customer specifications, and hand-pack them into prescribed cartons. This position requires attention to detail in ensuring product quality and accurate labeling. The role also involves various operational tasks depending on the specific product and line requirements.

Requirements

  • Basic math, reading skills, good communication skills, written and oral.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts.
  • Must be willing to work with very little notice upon business needs.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-learner and ability to multi-task.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other positions including departments.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. and 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work in an environment where stooping, twisting, and bending are frequent up to 10 hrs.
  • Able to operate a pallet jack and safely move up to 2000 lbs. of product.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate properly.
  • Positive attitude (can-do attitude); team player.
  • Proactive, disciplined, and organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Must know how to make boxes.
  • Must know how to operate and can depalletize if necessary (when applicable).
  • Must be able to cross-train in other positions including departments.

Responsibilities

  • Remove product from the conveyor.
  • Inspect products (cans or boxes) prior to packing.
  • Check if the label is placed correctly.
  • Verify if the label and carton match (when applicable).
  • Add plastic lids to the plastic lid application (when applicable).
  • Tape and palletize the finished product.
  • Add metal ends to the can seamer if necessary (when applicable).
  • Operate and depalletize if necessary (when applicable).
  • Add stickers to cases as required by the order production order (when applicable).
  • Perform any activity required by the operator, production lead, or production supervisor.
  • Adequately carry out all activities related to security and quality of the product.
  • Comply with and enforce food quality and food safety standards.
  • Comply with and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Train new packers.
