About The Position

The SP Maintenance Technician is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining assigned equipment to ensure production and quality standards are met. This role involves monitoring all plant systems during operations, analyzing and resolving technical and mechanical issues, and performing preventative maintenance. The technician will also assist in the installation of new packaging lines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and/or technical training or 3 years’ experience
  • Experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Experience in using electrical measurement equipment.
  • Experience in repairing problems in pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in fault tracing in electrical control circuits.
  • Experience in installing electric motors.
  • Basic experience in building maintenance.
  • Technical Skills: Electrical installations 110, 220, 440, Electric motor repair, Fault detection in control panels, Reading plans and diagrams, Manufacturing of electrical control panels, Connection of electric motors 90vdc, 110ac, 220ac, 440ac, Connection and programming of electric motor drivers, Connecting and programming temperature controls, Connection and programming of electrical sensors, Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
  • Soft Skills: High mental and visual effort required.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts when required.
  • Job involves standing most of shift.
  • Good physical condition, able to lift and push 50 lbs. safely.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to repair machines properly.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending (more than 4 hours of each activity?).
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect parts and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality.
  • Monitor all systems during plant operations.
  • Analyze and correct technical and mechanical problems.
  • Repair and overhaul equipment and controls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Assist in the installation of new packaging lines.
  • Provide repairs on equipment for Maintenance, Production, Sanitation, and the Warehouse to safely and efficiently run operations.
  • Keep work area clean and in neat condition.
  • Meet and enforce best practices for manufacturing (GMP's and 5S's).
  • Maintain equipment functioning in a safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Repair electrical equipment.
  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment.
  • Plan for and take corrective action.
  • Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electrical and electronic devices and systems.
  • Test equipment to check operation.
  • Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
